Let The Right One In/ Let Me In

Let The Right On In is a swedish clut classic that came out in 2008 about a bullied 12 year old boy who befriends and falls in love with a vampire girl who helps him get back at the people who bullied him. I saw the movie when it was in theatres in Chicago, and I can tell you it was amazing to watch the story unfold on a big screen like that.

It's an extraordinary movie that is more of a coming of age story that just happens to have vampires in it. Do not mistake this with Twilight, this is the total opposite of Twilight. The movie also goes back to it's grassroots of vampire lore. Vampires can't eneter a building unless invited in, they burn in the sunlight.

Did you know that in old vampire lore, cats feared vampires and attacked vampires? This leads up to a very gruesome scene that leads to interesting turns in the movie.

The movie Let The Right One In is beign remade by Matt Reeves of Cloverfield fame. (He directed that film) His adaptation is faithful but different. His producer says that the movie isn't a remake of the Swedish movie but of the book it's based off of by John Ajvide Lindqvist.

Here's the trailer to Let The Right One In:

Now look at the trailer for Let Me In:

I think he trailers differ, but they also look similar. A lot of the shots from the production stills are similar. Let Me In comes out to theatres October 8th and Let The Right One In is out on DVD.

  1. I feel that Matt Reeves as a direct has enough talent to make the film different. Let The Right One In is going to be a tough movie to beat but f we get something that is just as good, I think a lot of fans will be happy. Now, although the film is nothing like twilight, it would be wise to market it like a twilight movie to get that audience into the theatre. My only fear about this movie is that it wont make its money back at the box office.

  2. I think if the movie is promoted in a horror movie way, people will want to see it. If they target it as a Twilight movie 12 and 13 year olds will wanna see it and it's gonna be rated R. That would be a bad marketing move, I think.

  3. I disagree, the film itself is not a horror movie. It is a film, not a movie
